Applications for Gen.8 closed. What happens now?
Congrats on submitting your application for our eight cohort! Are you wondering what happens next? Just in case you did not get our email, this is what happens now:
There are three stages of evaluation
1. Internal Screening
The P18 team has the task of reviewing the eligibility of all participating startups. During this stage, we’ll filter the ones that do not meet the program’s basic criteria:
- Non-scalable
- Non-innovative
- More than three years of operations
- Companies that have no plan for Puerto Rico
- Startups without traction
- Non-full time founders
2. International judging
A group of international judges that include investors, partners in other acceleration programs, and mentors, will evaluate the remaining startups by a specific selection criteria. The results from this round create a a ranking of 80 to 100 companies that will then go on to the final judging round.
At least three judges will review your application. This is what they take into account:
3. Selection Committee
Finally, a selection board consisting of local and global members evaluates the top 80 to 100 companies and selects the up to 40 startups that will join Gen.8.
Program Timeline
PS: The program starts on May 18th. The rest of the dates are an estimate, it may take more or less time. We’ll keep you updated.
A Note to International Entrepreneurs
We encourage you to start applying for a U.S. visa in case you get accepted into the program. Even if you’re not accepted, a U.S. visa is always useful for entrepreneurs. Parallel18 has no leverage or influence to grant U.S. visas, this is why we suggest you start that process as soon as possible.
Thank you for taking the time to fill out your application. Stay tuned to Cobi’s upcoming emails with updates on the judging process. If you do not receive said communication within three weeks, please reach out to us via cobi@parallel18.com. Likewise, if you have any questions regarding the judging process.
You can also keep up with us by following our social media on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram. If you’re wondering when our next application period starts, mark your calendars for November 2020!
For what is left, we wish all the best luck! Here’s to becoming a #P18Startup.
